Piedmont City School District ranked 6th out of 138 school districts in the State on the State Report Card for the 2018-2019 school year with a score of 94.

Piedmont High School was in the top 6% of Alabama High Schools on the 2018-2019 State Report Card.

Piedmont City School District had the highest score on the State Report Card in Calhoun County for 2018-2019.

Piedmont City School District has the 16th highest scores in the state on ACAP, the newly adopted state assessment in Math, ELA, and Science.

All Piedmont City School District teachers are Apple Certified.

Piedmont High and Elementary Schools are two of the four schools in Alabama that are recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools.

Scholarships totaling over $2,000,000 were awarded to the Class of 2021.

The system secured $2,808,568 in additional revenue via grants.

Piedmont City Schools received a 21st Century Grant to provide after school enrichment/tutoring.

Piedmont Education Trust (PET) awarded over $43,700 in scholarships and over $11,000 in Teacher Grants for 2021.

Thirty-five percent (35%) of teachers in the school district (highest in the state) have earned the prestigious National Board Certification (national average is 3%).

The football team won its 6th consecutive region championship.

The basketball team won its 7th consecutive area championship.

The softball team made it to the state tournament.

The baseball team won its 9th consecutive area championship.

The Blue Knights were invited to perform for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary in Orlando, FL in March 2022. The band was also represented at the All-State Band Festival in Mobile, AL. They are proud to have students performing with the JSU Marching Southerners and other collegiate ensembles.

The Theatre department produced and performed “Godspell” virtually. Collaborating with the music technology class, the theater department built a sound booth.

The Art Department purchased a second potter’s wheel with a PET grant to allow students to complete ceramic art projects.

Piedmont Middle School has been selected to participate in the Amazon Future Engineer program for the 2021-2022 school year.

Piedmont City Schools is collaborating with the JSU Graduate Social Work program.

Piedmont Elementary School is collaborating with the JSU Drama Department to bring a free performance for students.

Piedmont Elementary School has a partnership with the JSU College of Education called the “Piedmont Project” where elementary education majors come in for observations prior to their practicum experience.

Piedmont Elementary School has a partnership with the JSU Early Childhood Education Department called “Polar STEAM Express” in which we do a STEAM Day with Kindergarten students in December.

Piedmont Elementary and Middle Schools have a partnership with JSU’s Nursing Department and Sight Savers America’s KidCheck Program to provide annual head to toe health screening for PreK through 8th grade students.

All Piedmont High School core teachers are certified as ACT Certified Educator making our system one of the first in Alabama to do so.

Piedmont High School had a 100% graduation rate and 98% of students graduated with a college and career readiness indicator, the highest in the state of Alabama.
